At the origin of this style of wine -vin de paille- rests an ancestral method of drying grapes on mats of straw. After at least two months of drying, grapes are pressed followed by a long fermentation. The result is an exceptionally aromatic wine, deep colored and full-bodied, a delicious wine capable of ageing.

Gewürtztraminer is a pink grape producing  wines which are easy recognizable by their flavour of lychees and scented roses.  The finest wines are coming from the Alsace region, where gewürztraminer is considered as one of the noble white grape varieties. On the Luxembourg bank of the river Moselle gewurztraminer is rather rare. There is one appellation, Moselle Luxembourgeoise which may produce all types of wines. Since 2001 sweet wines are officially regulated. Vin de Paille may be used when at least 150 Oechsle can be obtained. Domaines Vinsmoselle is the biggest producer. More than 200 winegrowers are involved. Although crémant Luxembourgeoise is their flagship, its vin de paille is considered a unique wine which worthy of accompanying the gastronomic table.

The 2020 bottling has a deep yellow color. Generous at the nose with aromatic floral, orange blossom, honey, dried fruit and hints of balsamic. Rich and plummy palate with nice acidity. A full-bodied wine, well balanced, much freshness, and many layers of complexity.
