GECAJ ESTATE OWNER’S CHOICE PETIT VERDOT 2017

Stone Castle Vineyards & Winery is established in the heart of Rahovec Valley in Kosovo, one of the Balkan countries. The company has a capacity of more than then millions liters a year and has been equipped with the latest technology. Combining modern techniques with traditional winemaking methods results in beautiful wines with a distinctive character.

Accepting that this powerful red wine based on petit Verdot, one of the grape varieties from the blends of the Bordeaux region, is not a wine to be drunk young but after some years of ageing in oak barrels, this owner’s choice has much to give.

Petit Verdot is not the easiest grape to cultivate. It has a strong character with a dark skin and high natural tannins. It demands a long ripening period. This example from the Stone Castle company opens with a medium intense red color and a bouquet that offers scents of black plum and forest notes, hints of graphite and spices. Succulent and juicy, soft tannins and great freshness with an appealing acidity cover the palate. The finish is long with nuances of spices.
