LES FIEFS D’AUPENAC 2019

Are you looking for sunshine in a glass? This is a remarkable wine from the south of France. With its combination of freshness and elegance, this deep red colored wine is many people’s friend.

The appellation Saint-Chinian is situated in the Languedoc, France’s most important region in terms of volume, with hundreds of cooperatives. The cave de Roquebrun located 30 kilometers north of Béziers, between Montpellier and Toulouse, has been established in 1967 and counts 70 members. The climate is Mediterranean, very mild, but relatively arid. This particular climate combined with acid soils allow the culture of different grape varieties. The vines are among the oldest in France and represent 80% of the wine growing land. Les Fiefs D’ Aupenac is a blend of 60% syrah, 20% mourvédre and 20% grenache originated from old vines on hills with schistose soils. After fermentation and carbonic maceration the wine matures in wooden barrels for twelve months.

Deep purple-red color, aromas of wild fruit along with scented plants, notably thyme, rosemary, pine and juniper remind one of the garrigue scrublands. The palate experiences a lively wine, juicy and well-balanced with a nice freshness and mild tannins with plenty notes of spices, coffee and cacao ending in a long fruity aftertaste.
