BOCOR GRANDIOR MERLOT 2017
After a university qualification in agriculture Tamás Günzer started his enterprise as a vine-cultivator in 1991. His first bottles of wine were released in 1998. Today the vineyard counts 18 hectares of vines, and was enlarged with 16 hectares of new plantation in 2009
Villány is a region of nice red wines. Bordeaux varieties such as merlot, cabernet sauvignon, and cabernet franc are very popular. The region benefits from a sub-Mediterranean climate, generally dry and sunny. Tamás Günzer’s wines show accuracy. His goal is to produce premium wines with high quality.
This 100% merlot is sourced from the best vines of Bocor, a subzone in Villány de Dél-Pannónia. Merlot provides a delicious memory: smoky notes, a lovely aroma of kirsch and plum, and a little animality overlaid with vanilla. The palate is full bodied with vibrant acidity and fine tannins, a lovely roundness and notes of toast followed by a lingering lifted finish. Serve this nice wine with stew.
