GRASA DE COTNARI 1985
The vineyard is part of the Moldova plateau, located for the most part on the Cotnari Coast. The Cotnari region in Iasi County is distinguished by sunny slopes and a calcareous soil rich in humus. The region has winds and cold local streams that favor the growth of botrytis or ‘noble rot’. The growing season is characterized by low cloudiness, but also sunny days, grape growth and sugar accumulation, all needed for producing an outstanding sweet wine.
The COTNARI company in the heart of the Cotnari vineyard, produces wines of exceptional quality. The Cotnari wines from Moldavia have earned many Great Gold Medals at different international wine contests. One of its latest awards was by the jury of Vinitaste at Monde Selection. Graca de Cotnari is a variety that produces one of the best-selling wines in Romania, a complex wine with the sweetness of raisins and a hint of almonds. . According to the winegrowers the Grasa de Cotnari develops it best aromas after 20-25 years.
Grasa de Cotnari 1985 has a beautiful amber color. The wine has a distinctive aromatic character of dried apricots, honey, and sweet pears with undertones of gingerbread and caramel. Refined and soft in the mouth, it shows a nice acidity, depth and complexity that marries well with duck paté, blue cheeses and fruit tarts.
