Austria has been well known for its wines from the indigenous varieties grüner veltliner for white and zweigelt for red, not to forget the world-class blaufränkisch, riesling and sauvignon blanc. The special geographical setting plays an important role in producing great wines with finesse and regional typicity. The Schneeberger family has been growing wine in southern Styria since 1870.

Their knowledge of soils, grapes, and climate conditions has been passed on from generation to generation. Their winery is equipped with the latest technology. The wines mature in stainless steel, in large wooden barrels and in barriques. Among other nice wines Schneeberger produces a great sauvignon from the Kittenberg vineyard with soil conditions ranging from a dominant slate soil to sand and shell limestone. A strong factor influencing the nice quality is the large temperature difference during late summer and  autumn, caused by the high-altitude vineyard.  Altitude has a beneficial effect on aroma formation and the freshness of the wine and is expressed by a typically minerality. The year 2019 has been an excellent vintage despite the heat and drought. Sauvignons are charmingly with abundant fruit and elegance. Sneebergers Kittenberg is a classic with a bright straw color and a hint of green.

In the nose the wine starts slightly aromatic, subtly understated. Some minutes later a rich bouquet develops hints of freshly cut grass, elderflower, gooseberries and citrus, delicate smoky, a typical sauvignon profile.. Rich and juicy with zippy lime acidity, well balanced, with a fine and lively texture, and a medium body tending to be mineral. A lingering aftertaste. A perfect match for goat cheese.
